Students Consultant

  4. The TECH Center (Teaching, Education, Collaboration, Help) is a 75,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility with resources that cater to current learning styles. Designed with a variety of workspaces to enable students to work collaboratively or individually, the TECH Center is the largest of its kind in the nation. This dynamic facility allows students to meet, study, collaborate, relax, and take advantage of the various resources such as Student Computer Lab, 24 hours Help Desk, Full-Service Printing, Multimedia Studio, 13 Breakout Rooms, Laptop and Tablet Loans, Recording Booths and etc. I work at students consulting desk.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             As a Student Consultant in Tech Center, I have several responsibilities:
      • Monitor the conditions of lab equipment
      • Troubleshooting with PC and Mac to resolve the issues
      • Help students with the technical issue on the phone call
      • Help students with software and application
      • Assist students with the special and advanced printing equipment.
      • Update the laptop inventory in the system

      At my workplace, I have done few small projects and tasks. For example, sometimes I had to figure out issues with software and computer and solved it. In that experience, I get to learn about various software and way to solve problems related to that. I also had the task to solve the problem-related inventory of laptop rent-out which is related to real-time data transaction. I don’t do coding at my work but my manager explained to me how our printers are printers’ status monitor is connected through coding. It was great to see the use and importance of coding in the workplace.

      Working experience in Tech Center helped me to increase my knowledge about technologies, application and topics related to MIS classes. By helping other students, we also get to learn something new every time. After watching the use of coding at my workplace, I got more curious to learn about coding class. I also learned about the use and solving problems related to the advanced printing equipment.
