QVC
Participating in the QVC analytics challenge was an amazing opportunity and experience. I’ve worked with a great team and produced the best results we possibly could. Temple’s analytics challenge gave a chance for students to dissect big data and organize it so it is easy to understand for anyone. In this challenge we analyzed a data-set and used to tableau to help organize and understand the data in a simple manner. Working with a team helped bring in new ideas on different approaches to the challenge. The goal of the challenge was to figure out what was the budget and gross per box office genres. We then created an info-graph to present our results for submission.
Career Fair
Temple hosted a career fair that had an enormous amount of employers in search for young optimistic college students for internships and full time opportunities. This event was an amazing experience getting a sense of what each company has to offer. It is much different than a simple google search because you get a face to face interaction with a current employee and get their honest opinions on the company. This also gives their company awareness which otherwise students wouldn’t her about them.
AIS
Becoming apart of AIS is sort of a no-brainier for any MIS students, as it helps students become more active while building connections. During my run with AIS I’ve attended countless speaker meetings, social and community service events. These were great opportunities to gain MIS points needed to graduate. I’ve met long term friends and mentors that have helped me throughout my college journey and that is priceless.
