BA2101 – Special Section for MIS Majors ONLY

October 22, 2009 by Joseph Allegra Leave a Comment

The MIS department is offering a special section of BA2101 Professional Development Strategies (formerly BA100) for the spring 2010 semester. This section is for MIS majors only. All MIS majors are strongly encouraged to take this section of BA2101.

While this section of BA2101 will target many of the same learning outcomes as traditional sections of BA2101, this section will focus on the professional development skills of an IT professional. For example, your resume will be critiqued by an IT professional. Mock interviews will be performed with IT professionals and there will be many other IT speakers throughout the semester. We feel strongly that this special section of this class will create value for MIS majors.

This course will meet on Tuesday’s from 2:00-2:50PM (CRN 066881, Sec. 010). This section is listed in the course schedule under Business Administration but has special authorization; in which only I can register you for this course. If you would like to take this course, stop by the MIS department (Speakman Hall 210) or send me your TUID and name indicating that you want to be registered for this section.

Spring 2010 Registration

October 15, 2009 by Joseph Allegra Leave a Comment

Registration for the spring 2010 semester begins Monday, October 19, 2009. Please be aware that MIS students follow a slightly different procedure. OWLNET is set to allow you to register for only a couple MIS courses. In order to register for the remaining MIS courses you will need to stop by the MIS Department which is located in Speakman Hall 210. This is done to make sure you are taking the correct courses, in the proper sequence, and meeting the pre defined pre-requisites.

  • If you are registering for MIS 2101, MIS 2502, MIS 3596, or MIS 3580 you will be able to register for those classes on your own via OWLNET.
  • If you are registering for MIS 2501, MIS 3501, MIS 3502, MIS 3535, or MIS 4596, please visit the MIS department and see Marlene Bell or Joseph Allegra; please have your TUID available.

The registration and start dates for priority registration for continuing students (registered in the Fall 2009) are based on matriculation status and class levels. Minimum semester hour requirements listed refer to completed courses and transfer credit hours only. They do not include semester hours in progress. To determine when you are eligible to register follow this link: http://www.temple.edu/registrar/RegistrationDates.html

Please be aware that freshman who entered fall 2008 and after follow a different curriculum.

Follow the sequencing of courses by selecting the correct course structure sheet:

  • MIS course structure freshman 2008 and after
  • MIS course structure admitted prior to fall 2008 and all transfer

When should an MIS student start taking MIS classes?

You should start taking MIS courses in your sophomore year or at the very latest the first semester of your junior year. To complete the MIS degree please set aside at least four semesters.

If you have any problems or concerns please feel free to email me.
