At Pitcairn Trust Company, a medium-size organization, there are 72 employees. As an intern this is valuable experience for me because I am exposed to a lot of the business and technical side, but most importantly, I could see my work made an impact. As a IT Support Intern, I am the first line of support and my responsibilities included, diagnosing user problems with network, email, and system access, and evaluating software and hardware issues. In addition to technical support I’m involved in various projects within the IT department. For example, I assisted in improving business processes by reaching out to the company’s cloud storage vendor to write a batch file script to automate its daily file transfer process, which includes approximately 200 files, for the wealth management team. Another project I am involved in is the process of upgrading to SharePoint 2016 from SharePoint 2010.
