Internship at Ernst&Young

I had an full-time internship in Ernst&Young (EY) from 28 July 2014  to 22nd August 2014. EY is a global accounting firm, and it is one of the ‘Big Four’ audit firms.

I was employed as a summer intern. In the first few days I had training that teaches me the basic knowledge of auditing. The instructors kindly told me about what was I going to do as an intern. They also shared their working experience which is very practical to me. After training, I had opportunities to work in client’s office. To be honest I enjoy to work in client’s office better than Citic because I felt like I was a staff helping my colleague instead of only an intern watching them to work. I would not say I gave them a big help, but that was a valuable learning experience from them. I learned to work professionally and the correct attitude of completing a task. In the last two weeks I worked in the Citic office and was doing some paperwork. Although they were just scanning and printing documents, the senior taught me the purposes and meaning of the documents. It enriched my knowledge of accounting, moreover, I understand that all the work must be organized to be effective and efficient to increase the productivity.

The internship experience can definitely help my studies at Temple even though it is not exactly relate to MIS. I learned how to cooperate with other team members to complete different tasks. And I found out that even the accounting firm is using computer-based program to assist the daily operation. The  auditors use gamx which is a audit tool to share documents with other team members. they also use Microsoft Lync to communicate with each other. I learned different software in MIS class, but I can use those software during my internship which certainly help my MIS studies.
