Technical Support Intern
During the summer of 2017 I interned at Ametek Sensors and Fluid Management Systems(SFMS) within the Measurement and Power Systems division, located in Wilmington Massachusetts. The business consists of approximately 40 employees. SFMS designs and manufactures aircraft and engine sensors for temperature, pressure, flow, fluid level, acceleration, proximity, speed and position. My roll in the business was technical support. I was part of the Information Systems department and reported to the Manager of IT. I worked on reviewing laptop configurations and new set ups, along with ensuring proper security software guidelines were followed to corporate standards.I also completed various software and hardware support for facility staff through an IT ticketing System. My main project through the duration of the internship was to upgrade every user to a new multi-factor authentication system. This included documenting the upgrade process and creating an easy to use set of instructions for users to follow. I was able to upgrade all users before the deadline while solving any upgrade issues as they arose. This position related most greatly to MIS 2501 Enterprise IT architecture. Many concepts learned in 2501 such as user management and bringing computers onto a domain were utilized at SFMS. I was also able to take the networking concepts learned in 2501 and experience them on a much larger scale in a functioning environment. Overall I enjoyed my time at SFMS and see it as valuable experience gained.
