A graduate of Colgate University, Carey O’Donnell has spent most of his professional career in the power electronics and telecommunications industry. He has held a number of Senior Sales and Executive Management positions throughout his career, with major corporations like Emerson Electric Co., Liebert Corporation, Oneac Corp. (Chloride), C&D Technologies, Inc., and Invensys plc. He has extensive background and success in the formulation and implementation of sales and marketing strategies, with a solid track record in the penetration and growth of new market segments.
Carey was a co-founder of The Cactus Integration Group, a telecommunications deployment company that was launched in August of 1997. In less than three years, Mr. O’Donnell built a sales and marketing organization which delivered over $90 million in annual sales. Cactus was acquired by Invensys plc, a $14 Billion global power systems leader, in August of 2000 for $33 Million.
Carey is a co-founder and principal at Mesa Technical Associates, Inc., a turn-key solutions provider focused on power infrastructure applications for the telecommunications, utility, and data center sectors. Mesa has built a portfolio of synergistic companies providing fabrication/manufacturing, engineering, construction, and systems integration solutions to the telecommunications and utility sectors. Mesa is a pioneer in the design, integration, and installation of Energy Storage Systems for renewable energy applications.
He has taught at Temple’s MIS Department for 19 years, at both the graduate and undergraduate level, before joining the MIS team as a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice in July of 2010.
Carey’s main hobby involves the restoration and flying of old warbird aircraft, and was an active member of the North East Raiders formation and aerobatic demonstration team for almost 10 years. He is married with two grown children, now living in Coral Gables, FL.
