Facebook Integration With WordPress

Facebook Launches WordPress Tool, Makes Blogging More Social

Hey everyone,

As with all of my posts, be sure to click on the link above to check out the source article. I just want to take a minute to talk about the new tool that Facebook has introduced, which allows for you to integrate your WordPress blog with your Facebook timeline. More and more, companies are realizing the importance of interoperability with different companies and their tools. For example, Spotify (one of the biggest online music streaming services) offers a free and open API (application programming interface) to developers so that the they can create a better overall service to their customers. As a result, they are creating a one-stop shop for customers and all of their music demands. Customers can now login to the service and get music recommendations from companies like Last.fm, Rolling Stone, or Pitchfork. In a very similar fashion, Facebook has opened their App Store so developers can create useful applications for their customers. Since so many people spend a large amount of their online time on Facebook, it’s in the best interest of other companies to create applications that bring them closer to their customers through Facebook. On the flip side, it’s in Facebook’s best interest to keep more people on their website for as long as possible. As a part of that, it is in their best interest to create tools like the WordPress tool in order to bring WordPress users closer to the Facebook ecosystem more often. Although this particular announcement isn’t all that groundbreaking, I expect to see more announcements  of integration with other web services from Facebook in the future.
