Using JSON and MongoDB in R

  1. Slalom Consulting
  2. May 22nd, 2019
  3.  The event taught me more about how to use R, and how MongoDB (which is a NonSQL database) can be used in conjunction with R. I also learned a great deal about MongoDB, which stores data in JSON-like documents. They\’re called \”polymorphic documents,\” which can support different shapes. That’d be like having a different number of rows in a table for the same database, which would result in a lot of nulls. However, since MongoDB is non-sequel, it does not have that problem. MongoDB also has MongoDB cloud, and is easily scalable.
  4. The event relates to our coursework because it deals with database queries and R/R studio. In our coursework for 2502, we only worked with MySQL. I\’ve always been interested in learning about non-SQL database options, and Mongo DB is one of those options.
