Marketing and Web Intern

  1. Company Description- Seedling and Sage is a small farm to table catering company headquartered in Glenside, PA. The company\’s primary business is in event planning and catering for weddings and other large scale events, but additionally provides delivery and pick up services. Just before the summer of 2017, Seedling and Sage decided to develop a WordPress blog such that prospective customer and long-term venue owners could have a chance to keep up the company\’s changes and the excitement of each and ever wedding, graduation party, and charity event.
  2. Job function- As a Marketing a Web Intern, I was first tasked with reorganizing the companies sales, prospective customer, and promotional material database, such that sales people and event planners would be able to navigate questions from customers more efficiently and our target demographic could be further solidified. After that I was tasked with both generation of promotional content (ranging from business cards, e-flyers, and the design of a company van) and the management of a WordPress site. Additionally, I also managed the social media accounts, specifically focusing upon Instagram.
  3. Projects- Though I accomplished a lot, my two favorite projects were the design of the company van, and the management of the blog. While designing the van I was given the opportunity to reinvent older branding models and utilize Photoshop which at the time was somewhat new to me. While writing for and managing the blog I was able to make use of Google Analytics, better audio visual editing, and the WordPress platform to enhance the site and make it more like what the owners had envisioned from the start.
  4. What I learned- Perhaps the most useful thing I learned revolved around my time with the WordPress site. I gained a much better understanding of google analytics than I had in MIS 2101, and exploring the code of how WordPress processed changes in HTML makes things much easier to understand in Data Centric Application Development.
