IT Systems Administration Intern
This summer (June 4 – August 10, 2018), I had the opportunity to intern at Deloitte Global Technology Services at Glen Mills. The project I worked on was creating a mechanism that will extract server information with a defined data structure – JSON, that could be leveraged by session management tool such as Remote Desktop Connection manager.
Deliverables
- A PowerShell script/module that queries the servers and organizes the information by specific properties in the JSON defined output data structure and is ingested by different session managers.
- A build and release pipeline with testing and publishing capabilities to package repository.
- Worked in Visual Studios Team Services to create epic, feature and user stories to track work along with produced code.
Skilled Learned
- Software Lifecycle Management
- Learned Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) with an Agile methodology. Learn the use of epics, features and user stories to track and deliver a product. Applying agile methods to writing, testing and packaging code.
- Coding in practice using PowerShell
- Proper formatting techniques, commenting effectively and resiliency through error handling.
- Requirements Gathering and Validation
- Learn the questions to ask to get the users’ perspective and fully understand what it is they are asking for, and what they need.
- Working Across Teams
- Collaborate with team members to accomplish tasks.
