ImageWare has today launched what it describes as the “first ever multimodal biometric authentication solution for the Microsoft ecosystem Called GoVerifyID Enterprise Suit, the system combines ImageWare’s Biometric Engine and its GoMobile Interactive products to provide true multifactor authentication.
One of GoVerify’s strongest points is the ease and speed with which it can be integrated into any Microsoft installation. It integrates with Active Directory and is essentially a snap-in to the Microsoft Management Console. It is a SaaS cloud service with the biometrics database held in the cloud, and GoMobile operating as the agent on mobile devices

Interesting Vaibhav,
I was researching biometric access control system for another class and was unable to find one that was multi-modal. Many companies offered all the popular biometrics devices but as separate entities. FAR/FRR or Type 1 and Type 2 errors was a concern, but now it seems that most devices can reach as low as 0.00001%, making biometrics access control very viable. Another thing that the article pointed out was the physiological changes that may be a problem for biometrics, but I think some technology have properly addresses that problem. For instance, a fingerprint template of an authorized user can be periodically replaced or replaced every single time the person scans it. The system would scan and authenticate the user’s fingerprint with the registered template. After authentication, the system would then replace it with the new scan. I found that to be pretty interesting.

Yeah even I liked the fact about it being Mobile friendly-With this the user authentication logins are possible for a tablet or laptop even when disconnected from the corporate network. Additionally, GoVerifyID Enterprise offers a consistent user authentication experience across all login environments

Really interesting article. I think with all the hacking of accounts in the past few years, some form of two factor authentication is going to become the common standard. Single Sign on just isn’t going to cut it as hacking gets more sophisticated and data becomes more sensitive. Bio metric authentication is great, but I think a key factor has to be the ease of implementation and the ease of use. The integration of this product directly into Active Directory is a key feature. I would love to see this in a demonstration!

To provide a greater reliability in the use of bio-metrics I think the unimodal identification system should be replaced by multimodal authentication system. If the fingerprint scanning fails due to some reason the device should be able to perform another biometric authentication like iris scan or voice scan

This product sounds promising. I think it is only a matter of time until we are no longer relying on passwords and we are primarily leveraging biometrics and tokens. Someday I imagine our kids or grandkids will say “What’s a password?”
