IT Risk Management Intern
Meditology Services is a third party risk assessment consulting firm for the health care industry. Started about 10 years ago it has grown greatly and has over 100 employees. They are continuing to grow so they can keep the level of quality they already achieve. This past year they got voted number 1 in KLAS for best cybersecurity advisory services.
As a IT Risk Management Intern at Meditology Services, I assisted with many projects. I have developed security risk policies for clients, performed facility walkthroughs, interviewed clients to see where security/privacy gaps may lie in their IT Health systems. Assisted forming new documentation for new product lines internally that Meditology is developing. Created project timelines to help client understand how our risk assessments differ from others. The most interesting thing that I did while I was an intern at Meditology was sit in at a CISO roundtable. The CISO roundtable is an event where all the CISO’s of top health care systems around the area come to discuss what problems their facing and what they do well. All these executives were so knowledgable about every topic they discussed and they were willing to tell their peers their strategies to tackle the toughest challenges one may face. It gave me great insight on how challenging and fun IT security/privacy can be.
The MIS programs course work has really helped me in this role, especially Digital Solutions Studio and Lead Global digital projects. These two classes helped me understand what to do during interviews with clients, such as, taking good notes, listening intensively, and just know how to interact with different types of clients. They also gave me a head start on how to produce effective documentation, such as, project time lines, risk registers, swim lane diagrams, and many more. Overall this was a great intern experience and I appreciate everyone I worked with at Meditology!
