Primo’s Pizzeria and Restaurant                                                                           (June 2018- August 2018)

At Primo’s Pizzeria and restaurant I worked as a waiter as well as performing bus duties. I would work every Saturday from 5-11 P.M. Working as a waiter helped me to further develop my communication, organization, and listening skills. As a waiter my duties were to take orders and communicate them to the chef and pizzeria as well as tell the chef and pizzeria when to start making the meal. Another one of my roles was to close the restaurant portion of the store when the time came. This would include stocking up on all necessary items, sweeping the dining room, and taking out the trash. Working as a waiter also entailed responsibility since I had to keep and store cash, and receipts in order to keep correct accounting records at the end of the night.

Having good communication skills is important for a company to act in an efficient manner. Poor communication within a company can lead to unwanted results and a poor company culture; both of which act against the profitability of the company. Being responsible is important so that I can be trusted upon to complete quality work by a deadline. I can also be trusted to abide by company code’s of conduct and to uphold the standards of the company. Working as a waiter also taught me how to deal with failure and conflict as well as it helped me to grow on this failure. When working I would fail to write down some important information and this would sometimes lead to the incorrect order coming out. This taught me to always write down information so it would not be forgotten as well as to understand the customer and control my demeanor when I was to give them an incorrect order. Being able to control your demeanor in the workplace is important to keep conflicts from escalating and keeping a good company culture.

Pat & Ralph’s Landscaping                                                                                     (June 2018- August 2018)

At Pat & Ralph’s Landscaping as a landscaper I would work in a team ranging from 3 to 8 men while tending to yards and gardens in areas of Brooklyn. My roles varied by workday and included mowing lawns, collecting and disposing of garbage – such as weeds and plastic wrappers, and turning dirt. Landscaping helped me to develop a tolerance for long days of manual work since I would work from 7 A.M until 5 P.M with few breaks in between. Landscaping also re-enforced teamwork and timing since each house required a specific order of jobs to be done in order to be as time-efficient as possible. I also witnessed what it was like to run a small business. For example witnessing management return calls from interested customers, keeping inventory, mailing letters to customers, and the customer service that comes with keeping longtime customers.

A tolerance for long days of work is important fro companies so that they know their employees have the mental stamina to produce quality work when called upon at any time. This way a company can stay efficient during busy times of the year because they can depend on their workers even when they are tired. Teamwork is an important skill to have for IT employees since IT projects are usually worked on in teams. Being able to contribute on a team and knowing how to communicate on a team can lead to a better quality project being done and can lead to more business for the company. Understanding timing is an important aspect of working in a team. Since different employees in a team have different roles, one person’s work may be dependent on another’s and timing is crucial to the completion of a project by a deadline.

Vector Marketing (Cutco) Salesman                                                                    (December 2017- May 2018)

As a Cutco salesman I would call potential customers to set up appointments to show Cutco knives. I would create my own schedule to accommodate to training times and personal down-times. I would go to each customers home and attempt to persuade them into buying Cutco with my knowledge of the product and a positive attitude. This job gave me valuable selling skills and ability to self-manage myself through creating my own schedule.

Communication with clients is important to keeping a healthy relationship with clientele as well as providing them with the results that they would like. Building a healthy relationship with clients also builds trust and will lead to your company to earn recurring business with those clients. Time management is an important skill to have so your company known you will allocate time to completing projects and will complete them by deadlines. An ability to make a sales pitch and influence others can help a company to gain clientele and make a larger profit. A great sales pitch and close will also  leave the client satisfied and happy about their decision which is important for gaining trust in a business deal.

Wendy’s Employee                                                                                                 (July 2016- July 2017)

As an employee at Wendy’s I learned most of the positions and was a multi-tool employee. I learned how to cook and serve foods such as fries, burghers, nuggets and chicken in the quickest and most efficient way possible. I also worked with the cash registers where I would take orders for the customer and/or help them pay as quickly as possible. At times I was asked to work multiple positions. Working at Wendy’s instilled a large work ethic in me and helped me to gain experience in communicating as well as organizing products and working at quick speeds.
