Third Place in the 2018 Data Analytics Challenge
My team placed third place in the 2018 Comcast/NBCUniversal Data Analytics Challenge. The 2018 Data Analytics Challenge final presentation was on November 14, 2018. This final round was hosted by Temple University in the MBA commons. My team won third place in the analytics track. Through this challenge, I learned about the multiple ways I can approach data analysis and problem-solving. Our team specifically chose to place a heavier focus on outside research rather than solely looking at the data that was given to us. Because of our approach, we uncovered an insight that would not have been seen if we had focused only on the data provided to us. This challenge relates to my coursework because in my Data Analytics course we learned a variety of applicable skills, which I then applied to this challenge. Some examples of things I applied are pivot tables and various data visualization strategies (pie charts, data-ink, etc.).
