IT Operations Intern at the AACR

During my time at the American Association for Cancer Research, I worked under the Assistant Director of IT and two Systems Administrators. I was able to work with various software such as Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection where I could log into systems and machines across the network through VMware. I also used Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager. I used SCCM to run reports and create queries pertaining to the information my boss wanted.  I provided help desk support and also was tasked with re-imaging numerous computers.

The AACR is the oldest and largest nonprofit in the world that provides research solely on cancer. Its headquarters is located right in the heart of Old City, Philadelphia. It was a great experience working for a company that does so much good for the world. The AACR stores a vast amount of data with all of the research they provide to the public. My colleagues were more than pleased with my time at the organization. I was able to complete every task presented to me in a timely manner. My time at the American Association for Cancer Research provided me with a diverse experience of an IT department at any organization.
