Alexion is a global Bio-pharmaceutical company that develops therapies for rare and ultra-rare diseases. The company has about 2,500 employees spanning 50 countries. I spent my summer working in the IT department at the New Haven, Connecticut location. I served the organization as a business analyst for Robotic Process Automation projects. Setting up the Center of Excellence for Robotics and the implementation of two Proof of Concept Bots were the two major projects I spent the majority of my time working on. I worked with an internal project team and external consultants in creating the governance and framework to standardize requirements and procedures for future bot projects within the organization. I worked with the business in order to gather business requirements, transformed them into user requirements and functional requirements which were used for the SDLC process and by the bot developers for the proof of concept bots. In addition to the business analyst work, I also researched cybersecurity and risk for RPA to determine industry best practices to ensure the projects were compliant. Through my project work I was able to develop my communication skills, learn how an organization utilizes the SDLC to complete IT projects, gather business requirements in a meaningful way, and work with internal and external project teams in order to deliver the project.
