TEMPLE PROFESSIONAL SALES ORGANIZATION
First SPO I joined at Temple, and I have been there ever since. In 2017, I ran PSO’s website and actively found and applied digital solutions for internal operations.
My best moments in PSO:
- Won a match in the Negotiation Series by pitching for the Cowboys, despite my utterly paltry knowledge of American football.
- Received my Sales Certificate my first semester in PSO and at Temple University.
- Published the completed new website online, and see it run without a hitch.
The event management internship at IDG ASEAN was my first internship.
At IDG ASEAN, I proofread, edited, and authored marketing content. I scanned through the Vietnam Banking Report, an edition of the company’s annual publication, to mark all grammatical and semantic errors as well as suggesting fixes. Learning to recognize and adopt the company’s voice from this experience, I later compiled the IT section of the Cambodia Banking Report by conducting flash research using Cambodian banks’ press releases and annual reports. I also edited marketing letters intended for prospective event attendees and sponsors. Managing content for IDG ASEAN taught me to present a company’s core values in a consistent manner, write for different audiences, and learn on the job.
In addition, I performed several social media functions. This included updating the event’s Facebook page and messaging prospects on LinkedIn. I also handled survey data on banking preferences. Particularly, I cleaned the data sets, calculated relevant metrics, and visualized data. I gained tremendously from applying analytical skills picked up at Temple to these tasks and from my manager’s feedback.
I also owed much of my learning at IDG to fellow interns who shared their own experiences and tips as well as valuable life experiences.
My employment at T&A Ogilvy was a big change for me professionally and personally. I summarized what I did here.
