Laurel Miller is Director of the Institute for Business and Information Technology (IBIT). She manages the external relations for IBIT and the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), including the Fox IT Symposium Series, a panel discussion among industry leaders, the annual Fox School IT Awards, the IBIT membership program, and The IBIT Report, a whitepaper style series of reports. Laurel also manages the professional development programs for the MIS department, including teaching the required professional development course for all MIS majors. She coordinates faculty and student projects with corporate and community partners, an industry speaker series, and funding for student scholarships as well as the student professional organization of the MIS department.
Laurel also manages the administrative staff and operations of IBIT and the MIS department. Laurel helped start the Management Information Systems department when it was founded in 2000, and was its first full time administrative employee, she later moved on to become the Associate Director of the Institute for Business and Information Technology in 2004. She was promoted to Director in 2006.
In May 2001 she won the ACM Student Organization Outstanding Service Award. Laurel also won the MIS Department Administrative Leadership Award in 2001 and 2003. Laurel holds a BS and MS in education from Temple University.
