Actuarial Intern
My role as an actuarial intern was, to a large extent, to fill the gaps on my team. Whenever one member was overwhelmed by a large project, or needed someone to review their work, I was the one to assist.
Some projects I worked on included cleaning and streamlining Excel workbooks for clients, creating a rate frazierisation calculator, and writing VBA macros to copy mortality rates.
Before this summer, I’d never worked in VBA at all, so I had to learn and implement it completely on my own. This was my first real-world opportunity to test not only the basics of programming that I’d learned at Temple, but also my own ability to learn and work independently, while still communicating with a team.
