PPL Corporation – Business Analyst Intern – IT Shared Solutions

Last summer, I had the opportunity to intern as a Business Analyst in the IT-Shared Solutions department at PPL Corporation. Two major projects were assigned to me. I was responsible for the creation of a Records and Information Management computer-based training and the automation of a records destruction process.

I was responsible for creating an interactive Records and Information Management computer-based training to raise awareness of the Records and Information Management Program in place.  I researched different publications and worked with others to gather information prior to creating the Records and Information Management computer-based training.  In addition, I assisted my supervisor in auditing several employees from different business lines to identify the areas in the Records and Information Management Program that needed improvement.

In addition to the computer-based training, I assisted in automating a records destruction manual process to help eliminate bottlenecks by using SharePoint 2010 and Nintex 2010. Prior to the creation of the Nintex workflow, I used Microsoft Project to develop a plan, assign resources to tasks, and track the progress of the project. Furthermore, I met with several stakeholders to have a complete understanding of the records destruction process and identify any unmet needs. I used Microsoft Visio to create a workflow that documented the manual process. After eliciting and analyzing the requirements, I used SharePoint 2010 and Nintex 2010 to design the solution. I did not let my unfamiliarity with both SharePoint 2010 or Nintex 2010 products delay the progress. I took the initiative to learn both products on my own through resources like online tutorials to help me complete this project on time. After building the solution, my team and I tested it out to make sure every component of the system met the needs of the stakeholders. I unfortunately, was not there to help implement the solution, but my supervisor updated on the progress of the implementation.

Lastly, I presented a Microsoft PowerPoint of my  PPL internship experience along with some key takeaways from my projects to my team and supervisor.
