Channel Partner Internship at Bolt On Technology

The full-time internship I held for 22 weeks, took place at Bolt On Technology.  Bolt On Technology is a software company that provides software solutions for the automotive repair and maintenance industry.  The company launched in 2009, and was just recognized as one of the fastest-growing small businesses in the U.S. according to Inc. 5000.  Bolt On Technology’s software “Bolt’s On” to the shop management system to create efficiency, productivity, and professionalism.  The software consists of several different products, which communicate and interact concurrently.  The product portfolio at Bolt On consists of: Mobile Manager Pro, Pro Pack (Lube Sticker Pro, Message Manager, and Report Pro), Welcome Station Kiosk, and Pro Call.  Bolt On fully integrates with the SMS, providing the capability to read and write directly to the shops database.

The internship at Bolt On began on March 14th and I worked fulltime until August 19, 2016.  I was provided the title and responsibilities as a Channel Partner.  During the first few weeks at Bolt On, I had to completely learn the software and know exactly how it performs and how to navigate through the applications.  Learning the proper way to use the software, the benefits it provided, and the backend of the applications, were key aspects in order to perform my tasks.  The role as a Channel Partner entitled me to plan future steps towards building potential partnerships, manage projects, and maintain positive business relationships.

I was given some leads on potential partnership opportunities with key industry company’s, as well as deriving my own potential leads and opportunities through networking and research.  Throughout the internship I oversaw nine projects and partnerships, four of which were successfully completed and revenue generating.  The remaining projects were then passed on to a different Channel Partner, after I outlined the past progress and fully explained future plans, in order to provide a smooth transition.  Alongside my main roles and responsibilities, I was also presented with opportunities to help conduct product demonstrations and training when needed.

My time at Bolt On Technology was extremely beneficial in helping me grow in the industry and put my MIS knowledge and skills to use.  The experience was challenging at times, but very productive, all while enjoying the work.  I was even fortunate enough to travel to different parts of the country several times for client and partnership meetings and events.

The internship at Bolt On gave me the chance to put my professional skills in play, and I was even offered a position to join the company upon graduation.
