Most theaters also have reward programs. Although there’s usually an upfront cost ($5-$10), you accumulate points when you purchase tickets or snacks. Then, after a certain amount of points you can get a free […]

Haven’t posted in a while and after getting a warning in my email about my blog not being active and set to be deleted I felt like a post was overdue.

It’s been mentioned that SOPA and PIPA were only the beginning. From the perspective of large media corporations and their representatives protecting intellectual property has been a losing battle. The amount of […]

That’s great! Also, it seems like this site is ranked around 9th place for an ‘mis’ search on Google.

Thanks Brian. I agree, I don’t want to let this die, it’s just frustrating. Maybe I’ll take a crack at figuring out the matching function over this weekend. I’m just a bit surprised that I can’t get another MIS student to help me out, it would look great on their resume! Anyway, how’s the job [...]

To start off I should probably apologize for largely ignoring this project for the past 4 months. Between trying to find a new job a few months ago and working at said job, it’s been hard finding the time and motivation to continue working on Community Connect. Usually I am pretty burned out from coding all day [...]

Many large organizations use Java because it is mature, well documented, and tons of libraries are available for developers to use. Java is open source (not free, because nothing is “free”, there are always [...]

Ilya Rogov wrote a new blog post: A New Direction for Community Connect — BuddyPress 2 years, 8 months ago
Deciding to reboot the project under what I feel to be a much better platform, namely BuddyPress, has become both a burden and blessing. On the negative end, I am abandoning a large portion of my code and porting what I have to a higher level platform. Creating a BuddyPress plugin/component is more challenging than I [...] -

Hah! We will see. There are still several bugs that I would need to work out. I’ll discuss it with Munir. It might be a good idea for Alums to network and keep in touch with each other and the Temple community.

The widget will now contain a single dropdown list containing a specific technical skill that a user will choose. This technical skill will server as the matching criteria. This way a student can easily find others who have strong coding, database, or project management skills.
