    Confidence is the strength of the association.
    Lift tells us if the confidence is accurate.

    As a correction: Forward engineering exists when ERD creates and SQL and reverse engineering exists when SQL creates an ERD

    ERD and SQL have 2 relationships, forward and reverse engineering. Forward engineering exists when SQL creates an ERD. Reverse engineering exists when ERD creates an SQL.
