My important takeaway from this course is that I got an overview of how different organizations use data to improve their business. The course gave the overview of entire process where data is converted into […]

In my opinion, companies that sell digital will be able to collect an ongoing revenue stream in future too with the help of right tweaks in the subscription and pricing models. For example, as the digtal […]

tuc72866 commented on the post, Weekly Discussion Question: Week 11, on the site MIS5101 – Data Management and Warehousing 1 year, 6 months ago

In my opinion, transformation of social data into a format that is usable for statistical analysis and which can be matched with the internal data is the major problem. Social data may come through informal […]

tuc72866 commented on the post, Weekly Discussion Question: Week 10, on the site MIS5101 – Data Management and Warehousing 1 year, 6 months ago

In my opinion, the granularity would depend on the purpose for which data would be used. But in general personnel from sales, marketing, human resource, cost and revenue departments would be the stakeholders who […]

If I was in charge of Dat.gov, I would market the website through news agency, newspapers and news channel. I would organize workshops and training sessions at the university level to educate students about the […]

I found this interview with Mr. Vivek Kundra, ex-CIO for the US government. Interview is long for about 40 minutes. But he has explained the data.gov initiative quite well.

At Intermountain Health Care, evidences were used to select best practices. Metrics were used to assess the treatments that were standardized. As for Oakland As, evidences were used to select players and metrics were used to assess the revenues. Hence we cannot compare IHC with As, because apart from difference of settings (clinical vs sports), [...]

Data quality issue can occur due to inaccuracy, inconsistency, incompleteness, misinterpretation or wrong presentation of data. A very common example of data quality issue is that those who stay in apartments frequently receive the letters/mails of the previous tenants. This is because people fail to update address on the every system they use. It is [...]

Moreover, I think that as less available data may lead to ‘assuming’ few facts, it can potentially result into inaccurate or completely wrong data.

I have worked as a production support analyst for HR suite of applications. Our web-system preferred data accuracy over access as it dealt with employees’ sensitive payroll and personal information. We had different sub-programs for incentive planning, appraisals, long term career planning for the clients’ employees. These modules required…[Read more]

n my opinion, both the approaches (formal and “less formal”-informal) should be present for effective knowledge sharing. The informal learning occurs every day and all the time. We solve our daily work problems through voluntary knowledge sharing either by talking to the senior member, or discussing it with peer or with the team. Day-to-day problems [...]

In my opinion, to gather quality and in-depth data during an interview, we can follow a short process. The interviewers may be a set of people who have some relevant background of the purpose of why interview is being taken. These interviewers should brain-storm and come up with a relevant questionnaire or script which can [...]
