From working at temple, I realized a one former employee has my same name and was previously assigned the AccessNet ID. I was told that the ID may be available in the future if I wanted it. That would be a problem if you wanted to use this as a unique identifier.

Using a randomly assigned TUID number is a good source for unique identifiers. The 9 digit number is sufficient to avoid the need for repeated numbers as enrollment grows. I believe that a merger of formal and informal information sharing is the most efficient.
