Here is the link to the WebEx video of me talking through the solution to Assignment 9: Association Mining R assignment (link).
It may ask you to install a WebEx plug-in for you to view the video; go ahead and do that.
For question #7 in Assignment 9. the total number of customer should be 13,300 not 25,800, as in:
“After six months they created the following analysis of sales from 13,300 total customers.”
Note that the four cells add up to 13,300.
Here are the R script examples we discussed in class.
MySQL-Example.r – This queries the moviedb schema on our class server. It will work with any MySQL account.
aRules(MySQL).r – This queries the bank table I built in my own schema (m80ws.bank). If you want to use your own schema you’ll have to build the table using a SQL script that I can provide upon request.
And here is the brief slide deck on the topic.
One of your fellow scholars sent me the link to the NPR story we were discussing in class today about whether milk was in the back of the store due to analytics or due to logistics.
Spoiler alert: it’s a little bit of both.
Don’t forget to complete the online course evaluation for this class!
You can access the ESFF site here. The deadline is December 13 (well, technically December 14 at 8:00 AM, but are you really going to get up early on December 14 to do it?).
It only will take you five minutes, but it is important.
Some things about the course evaluations:
- Your feedback is anonymous.
- I don’t get the results until after the semester is completely over.
- I really look at the feedback and use it to make changes for future semesters.
This is a more manually-operated visualization of the k-means algorithm (just keep clicking).
This is the cool animated one.
Our ITA Lauren needs to move her office hours to Thursday (10/19) from 11:30-12:30 – that’s right before class.
As always, my office hours are 2:00 – 3:00, Tuesdays and Thursdays – right after class.
If those hours don’t work for you, remember you can make an appointment.
I have a department chair’s meeting right after class today, Tuesday 10/17. I will still be holding office hours, but they will be from 3:30 – 4:00 today.
Remember, you can always make an appointment with me if my regular office don’t work for you.
I have a department chair’s meeting right after class on Tuesday 9/19. I will still be holding office hours, but they will be from 3:30 – 4:30 that day.
