16th Annual IT Awards

I encourage you to register for the 16th Annual IT Awards. It is our Institute of Business and Information Technology‘s biggest event of the year; IBIT is affiliated with the MIS department and is Fox’s connection to the IT industry.

The event is from 6:00 – 8:00 on Tuesday, April 12 on Main Campus.

There are three reasons to attend:

  1. Build your professional network. Building connections is a big reason why you’re here at Fox. It’s a fantastic, low pressure setting to meet people from the Philadelphia technology community. It is also well-attended (usually about 300 in total) by our alumni and our contacts from industry. Many of our alumni are now in positions where they influence hiring decisions and they love to promote Temple – get to know them!
  2. The award winners are really interesting. We are recognizing the CIO of QVC, the CEO and Founder of RJMetrics, and the North American CIO of Spencer Stuart.
  3. It’s a fun event and it’s easy to attend. It’s on Main Campus and the awards portion is short and informal. It leaves a lot of time for socializing with attendees. The food and drink are quite good too. And it’s free!

You can register here by APRIL 4!

If you have any questions about the event let me know. Hope to see you there!

MySQL Workbench Instructions

MySQL Workbench Instructions

If you’re using a lab computer, you’ll need to configure a connection with your user ID and password. If you’re using your own computer (Windows or Mac), you’ll also need to install the software.

You can get instructions for how to do both of those things in this Quick Guide. Use the guide to setup your software and connection.

You’ll also need a MySQL username and password. I’ve assigned one to each of you, which you’ll find in the Community Site Gradebook (you have to be logged into the site for the gradebook to work).

Welcome to MIS2502!

In this class you will learn how organizations store, analyze, and interpret data using real-world relational database and analytics tools including MySQL, Excel, and R.
