Hello everyone,

In today’s class we will:

  1. Finish the array challenge we worked on last class
  2. Have an ungraded quiz on arrays
  3. Review the exam 1 study guide (Exam 1 is on Wednesday next week) MIS3502-Exam-1-Study-Guide.docx

We will explore the role of the $_SESSION super-global and how it could be useful to you in your project.  A corresponding challenge will be assigned.

Agenda for class on 8/27 (first class!)

Hello everyone,

Welcome to MIS3502.  I am looking forward to having a great semester with you all.

I’m sure you’re dying to know what we’ll be doing in class today.  Here’s the agenda:

  1. Take Attendance
  2. Review Syllabus
  3. Walk through Use Case, Schema, MVC structure
  4. Discuss the Class Project
    – What is it?
    – Review the first deliverable

At the end of class, I will leave you with a few things to do between now and next class: get a team partner, review the software installations, start brainstorming.

Getting ready for MIS3502.003

Hello class,

Here are two things you can do to get ready for MIS3502 this fall.

#1 Install the software:

(Installation videos provide the necessary links and instructions.  Yes, these are the same software titles you used in MIS3501.)

For PC Users:

  1. XAMPP ( INSTALLATION VIDEO)
  2. NetBeans IDE for HTML5 and PHP ( INSTALLATION VIDEO )
  3. Notepad++ ( INSTALLATION VIDEO )
  4. SSH client / Log into the class server ( INSTALLATION VIDEO ) NEW!

For Mac Users:

  1. XAMPP ( INSTALLATION VIDEO )
  2. NetBeans IDE for HTML5 and PHP ( INSTALLATION VIDEO )
  3. BBEdit ( INSTALLATION VIDEO )
  4. FileZilla / Log into the class server ( INSTALLATION VIDEO )

#2 Get the textbooks

(REQUIRED) Murach’s JQuery (2nd Edition) by Zac Ruvalcaba and Anne Boehm, ISBN 978-1-890774-91-2 (either print or electronic is acceptable)

(OPTIONAL) Murach’s PHP and MySQL (2nd Edition) by Joel Murach and Ray Harris, ISBN 978-1-890774-79-0 (either print or electronic is acceptable)
