Cat Sitter
Design a website for a cat sitter that is offering their services to the local neighborhood. A cat sitter typically provides daily care for pets while their owners are on vacation. The cat sitter owns several beautiful cats that they want to make sure folks know about and is available on nights and weekends as well as week days. They can also provide cat food at a discounted price. Cleaning out litters is extra. Their rates are negotiable but based on hours and number of cats. Once somebody goes over 10 hours then a daily rate is offered which can also be done as a weekly rate. The sitter will need to know who to call in a medical emergency and the insurance details. The sitter has excellent references as they have been operating as a business for a while through word of mouth, now they want to expand and may also be able to arrange other sitters. The site should also offer some kind of scheduling. Consider how this business will operate in that age of Covid-19.
The Philly Palace (concert venue)
Design a web site for the Philly Palace venue. Assume that the venue primarily hosts music bands with both reserved seats and standing options. It occasionally also hosts comedy shows. They also rent out the facility to others. They would want a way to highlight selected events and actively promote them on social media. The ticket purchase should include discounts and also provide ‘will call’ services. A separate part of the site should provide relevant information to the people renting the venue and also for the various bands that are coming from out of the area. Consider how this venue must adapt in the age of Covid-19. What other offerings can they provide?
Jack and Diane Cleaners
Jack and Diane own a small dry cleaning business. They want a site to promote their business and also provide their customers with the ability to access their orders and get updates. They want to connect the site to their existing Facebook page and display customer testimonials. They currently have a system in place that records the items that a customer brings in for cleaning and prints out a bar-code that is pasted on each item. The sticker on the bar-code uses a special glue that will not damage the clothes or peel-off in the cleaning process. The clerk also enters the type of garment (e.g., coat, pant, blouse, etc.) into the system. When the garment has been cleaned, the bar-code is scanned into the system. The garments are put on the storage rack based on the bar-code. When a customer walks into the store (or calls on the phone) the clerk will enter the customer’s name into the system. The system will tell the clerk whether the garment is ready and print out a receipt. The bar-code number allows the clerk to find the garment(s). Assume that the system exists and you can access its data for your site. Consider how this business must adapt in the age of Covid-19. What other services can they provide?
