Famous Artists, Kat Von D
Tattoos are becoming more and more of a common place in today’s society. Not only is it more common for professionals to have tattoos, but there are now shows following famous tattoo artists and parlors throughout the country. One such artist is Kat Von D.
Katherine Drachenberg, born March 8, 1982, goes by the name of Kat Von D. Kat was first introduced in the TLC reality tv show Miami Ink, where she was a tattoo artist at 305 Ink in Miami. From that show viewers learned of her amazing talent of portrait tattoos. After a falling out with a co-worker, Ami James, Kat left for LA. TLC picked Kat up for her own reality show, LA Ink, which follows Kat’s shop, High Voltage Tattoo, from opening to present day.
Kat does amazing tattoo work. While portraits are her specialty, any piece of artwork done by her just comes out amazing. As quoted by her biography page on High Voltage Tattoo’s website, “As many of you who have tried to arrange an appointment with her know, she’s booked completely with a long waiting list, but what most people aren’t aware of is that long before she appeared on television, she was one of the busiest artist’s in Los Angeles. Her work spoke for itself and each piece she finished brought in fresh interest, this in addition to her comfortable bedside manor had her working at a pace that few equaled.” Many people who have tattoos know that once you find an artist that possesses these qualities, you keep coming back to them no matter what the wait.
Besides tattooing, Kat also has other forms of bringing in income. She is an author of multiple books, she has her own apparel line, and she has her own line of make-up at Sephora.
