Site Review – Tumblr
I few weeks ago I started using tumblr as an activity for MIS3538. It’s simplicity of use got me hooked right away. Tumblr uses the aspect of reblogs, and likes to share content. Once you create a blog and customize everything to your liking then you’re free to post your own content or reblog someone elses. You can post text, video, music, pictures, quotes, links and chats. Each type of post has their own design, so after using the site for a bit you’ll learn which is which. If you don’t want to post anything originally yours then you can reblog others material. This is done simply by following them and clicking the reblog button when content shows on your dashboard, or by browsing other blogs and reblogging a certain post on their tumblr.
One aspect I really enjoyed about tumblr is their blogs that create a community. I’ll specifically focus on fytattoos. This tumblr blog allows tumblr users to post pictures and a description about their tattoo(s). Yet this site still filters out tattoos, and only looks for quality photos and obviously nothing inappropriate can be displayed. Another aspect that tumblr allows is a reply feature on posts. So you can reblog a tattoo you like and add a comment, or reply to the post and leave a private comment. It allows a way for fellow tattoo enthusiasts to network.
In the end, I think tumblr is a great blogging site no matter what your interests are you. So many people use this site that you’re bound to find friends who use it, along with finding content that fulfills yours interests. Happy Blogging!!
