The second most important thing going on today is the first real day of the football season. I like to enjoy the NFL season in as many ways as possible. Luckily for me, there are plenty of avenues I can use to indulge in the season. There are TV packages like the Sunday Ticket and the Red Zone, and endless sports journalists, blogs, and websites. Theres sports betting, streaks for the cash, and fantasy football. The list can go on and on.
This blog will cover my involvement in one of my favorites over the last few years – the suicide pool hosted by WIP Radio. ( http://suicidepool.610wip.com/ ) For those of you who don’t know what a suicide pool is, I’ll give you the abridged version. Each week you have to pick one team to win their game. Teams cannot be re-used. If your team loses that week, you’re out. Its simple, but its very difficult. There are 17 weeks, so there are 17 picks. However, there are no where near 17 teams that can be considered locks.
There are unofficial guidelines that can help your chances.
1. Pick a home team
2. Avoid division games
3. Don’t save teams (The most important in my opinion)

So, what’s plan B?
Very good point. As you can see in my 2nd post, I’ve increased my chances by 300%. I should be able to ride those three handles pretty deep into the season (Knock on wood!). If things go bad, I can still update on the suicide pool and the current events of the NFL on a week to week basis.
