Resume

Thank you for your interest in my resume. You can download a version here: Word | PDF.

We recommend that you make your resume available on this page in two ways. 1. Format it nicely so that it appears on this page. 2. Include a downloadable version of your resume at the top of the page as shown above. Use the template – available through the links above – to complete your resume.

One of the biggest advantages of formatting your resume and displaying it on this site is that you can link directly to additional information. For example, you can include a link to your projects, include relevant pictures from your internship, and provide links to all your employers directly from your online resume.

Use the blockquote tag – to emphasize key interesting attributes. The text inside the box above is inside the blockquote tag. Click on the double quote symbol in your editor to turn on blockquoting.

You should consider using and turning on the TinyMCE editor for better control over formatting. Click on “Plugins” and then click on “Activate” under TinyMCE Advanced.

For finer grained control over paragraphs click on TinyMCE Advanced under “Settings.” Check the option to “Stop removing the <p> and <br /> tags when saving…”. This will stop the editor from adding and removing line breaks automatically.

You should also add a few of the nicer TinyMCE buttons to your toolbar (if not already there). For example, the Advanced Horizontal Rule button allows you to add horizontal lines to break up your resume into sections. See below.

TinyMCE also gives you useful controls to add and manage tables. You will first need to add all the Table buttons to your tool bar.

A few more formatting suggestions:

Use the Heading tags to separate and title sections.

The heading tags will work a lot better for you across browsers and platforms than changing font size. These tags are available under the Paragraph setting in your toolbar.

If you are going to paste in text from Microsoft Word, it is highly recommended that you click on the “Paste from Word” in your toolbar above (the icon with the W and clipboard). This will strip out all the junk from Word before it goes into your page.

If your text does become messed up, click on the “Eraser” button above to remove all formatting. You are discouraged from using too many different colors – did you know that many older males are color blind?

Finally, if you want full control over your site, click on the HTML button in your editor and learn HTML. One of the best ways to learn HTML is through the TinyMCE editor, switch back and forth from Visual and HTML mode. Please note that you will be unable to change certain aspects of the formatting on your site because certain attributes are controlled by the theme you are using.
