We did a Facebook ad for our group project to promote our site. It was pretty simple to set up
and didn’t take much time. The only hard decision was either to chose impressions or per click.
There are a few quick questions to answer in order to set it up. The questions are pretty straight
forward like country, name of group, demographics you want to target, interest categories you
are targeting. When you are done with that, you set up the payment schedule and ways you want
to pay facebook. This is where the impressions or per click comes into play. One thing is that per
impressions are cheaper than each click. What happens is that you set a total amount of money to
spend on the facebook ads and its connected to your card of choice. If you chose each click, they take
a certain amount depending on the amount of demographics and things you clicked on to determine the
per click pay style. With impressions, the cost is cheaper, but it doesn’t mean necessarily your going to
get more money for your buck.
Regardless of which one you chose, it gives you a break down of how many people clicked on it or not
and in our case, we really got no significant return on the facebook ad. I think our money would of been
wiser spent if we had done what we were thinking of doing, which was to run some sort of contest. We would
then offer 2 phillies tickets to the winners. I mean spending $60 bucks between us both for facebook ad that
doesn’t really seem to work or spending that money for 2 phillies tickets and actually seeing real success
would of been worth it. I would of sprung to pay extra too if it was more than $60 and if we got some real
support our way.
