This is a link to blog giving some information about Philly tech week.
On it are information, a calendar schedule a bunch of other information.

I was trying to think of a viral marketing campaign that I may have been directly or indirectly exposed to and after thinking about it, I couldn’t think of a concrete answer. One thing that might fit is a hair wax product that I got from my girlfriend I told everyone about. It was a Korean brand that my girlfriend picked up for me while she was in New York, and after using it, I really liked it. I told my cousins, friends, and whoever else I knew who were looking for a new hair wax and they all decided to give it a try. Before I knew it, everyone I knew was asking me where I got it and if you could get it from a local place. I am sure they told their friends as well, and the product most likely spread a bit more at that point.
I think viral marketing is more effective with network affects. The reason I believe so is because most products that are being spread through viral marketing and word are mouth are hard to come by. The product may be a good product, but it isn’t advertised much and many of your local stores may not be buying them. If the network effect is in place, the most people that use and want a specific product will be available and will make the product itself prolly better. For instance, network effect on telephones have been great. The more people that own and use a telephone, the better it is for everyone else.
I think you also have to keep in mind that with the internet now, it doesn’t matter if the product is wanted by local people who don’t have local access to the item, because the internet is available. Most places have an online presence to sell their goods all over the globe so even if the product isn’t sold locally, you can always purchase it online.

Both these programs do pretty much the same thing and track views and visits your sites get. You can see a breakdown of when people are viewing, how many times a certain page is being, viewed and all the other goodies that you might want if your trying to bring traffic to your site. They even show you what kind of marketing practices are working for you too. The main difference I see are that google analytics you set up with your gmail account which is cool cause I already use this service. Google analytics for me is easier to navigate than sitemeter was. Sitemeter had a bunch of extra stuff that, personally for me was not needed. Another thing is that google analytics can handle all your sites. If you want to do that with sitemeter you have to get that pro service which I have no need for. The final thing is, I like the google analytics widget better for wordpress. Right now I only have sitemeter one up but the google analytics one shows you right on the screen how many new visitors you have had to the site. Unfortunately, mine was at 0 so I got rid of it for now.

WOOOOHOOOOOOO! finally graduating and leaving this grimy city, although I will miss this city. It’s been my home for 4 years and honestly feel more at home here than my home back in mechanicsburg.
This post is actually here to describe my Facebook group page I made for people I know that are also graduating with me. I figured I would kill two birds with one stone and get some quest points and do something I wanted to do anyways.
It is really easy to setup a page on Facebook, cause everything is pretty much automated. I just signed into Facebook and on the left toolbar under your profile picture is a link that says, “Create Group…”.
You just click on that, put in the title of your group page and the people you want to invite. You can then have the option to make this page closed or open depending on what kind of page you want. I have mine closed so only me and my friends can post. The page is called “Finally Graduating Temple”. I also have another group page im working on with my group partner called, “what snacks do you enjoy?” which is available for everyone to join and comment on so please go do that.
I did not go to the IT awards this year because of class and work. I am usually in class or working during my off times. I work at a sushi restaurant on South Street and my shifts are pretty long. I work from 11:30 – 10pm and 11pm on weekends so I don’t have time to take off for stuff unless its really important, like me winning an award.
I thought I could still comment on the IT awards because I did attend the year before when I first considered whether I would actually go for a dual major. I attended last year and honestly the thing is like any awards I have been to. I guess It is very similar to the Gamma one that they host every year. It is a great time to recognize people who have done an outstanding job and to just get people together for a good time. A keynote speaker is usually there to give a nice speech and then awards to recognize the hard work of people in the program. I think it’s a great idea, it gives something for people to strive towards. My group recently won a case contest for our capstone class and it felt good to get recognized for all the hard work we put into it.
Good job to everyone who won awards, I am sure they all deserved it.

FAQ: How do I add my slideshow into wordpress.
I was struggling with this for awhile and I couldn’t figure out how people were getting their slideshows to show up or how to even make a slide show to upload on wordpress. After messing around with different things and looking at other blogs I figured out how easy it was.
First, Sign up for slideshare.net. You can use other slide places, but this is one I used and it was easy to do. Once you register an account, you make a slideshow using powerpoint. Make a powerpoint presentation with the pictures you want and anything else and save it. Make sure you do all your editing in powerpoint for background and all that because you cant do it afterwards, which I found out after I did mine. Go to “Uploads” on slideshare and upload your powerpoint. Once you are finished uploading, you have to wait for it to finish converting everything on the the slideshare site. You will find your finished slideshow on your account in the section called “my uploads”. You then just click on embed. then under that link will be a link that says “customize”. Click on that and 2 new links will pop up. Take the first one and copy it.
After your done copying that link, you want to add a new post to your blog. On your blog, hit the html tab beside visual and paste the link into there. You can view to see if it worked properly by hitting the visual tab beside it or hitting preview. You should be done at that point and you will have your slide up and running.

I just signed up for TopCoder. I know it’s pretty late to register since we had the speaker about a month and a half ago, but I wanted the extra quest points so I could get back on that ranking table. The registration was pretty easy except for the very beginning. When you first go to the site and hit register, it gives you the 3 options. Run my own contest or I want to compete are the two options but “I want to compete” has two boxes you can select; one is for just TopCoder and the other is for TopCoder Studio. I didn’t know which one to do so I just chose the very first one which was run my own contest and start using top coder direct.
After confirming my registration through my email, I went through the site. I should actually say that I attempted to go through the site and wow is this not for me. I am not the most tech savvy guy. I know how to figure things out by going to peoples blogs or forums on specific topics and following step by step directions. However, everything on TopCoder was so confusing, I didn’t even know what I was looking at half the time. I just assumed by the title of main link, the content was what I clicked on. I don’t think this website is something I would ever get into.

I was hoping that this past year season with Vick was going to be
the season they won the Superbowl. I was here when the Phillies
finally won and I was hoping the Eagles would do the same. I am
moving to Atlanta after this year is over to persue my career in
Underwriting, but I will always be supporting Philly. This slide show
is some new and old faces of the Eagles. I guess only one guy Vick
is new and everyone else is old and gone, but atleast Asante is still
there and we got some great new players like Desean and Mccoy.
