Internship Question #1
I hope everyone is off to a good start at your internships. We have 7 people that will be responding to questions throughout the summer. Please feel free to respond to one another here if you have questions or comments.
The first question is easy: Where will you be working? What will you be doing?
Please post a comment to this post and share with everyone what some of your responsibilities will be this summer. Others may have questions or may be doing the same types of things.

I Am working at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as a project management intern.
I will be assisting the us Information Systems team, Managed Markets portfolio with various change management, taxonomy, and user acceptance testing activities for various is projects (CRm, sharepoint, etc.)
I will be working at Market Resource Partners as a Data Integrity Specialist.
My job function is to:
• Generate external reports for MRP’s clients, including:
NetApp;
DiData;
Qwest;
High Impact;
DataLink; and
Cisco.
• Utilize MRP’s Siebel CRM application to prepare marketing campaigns for launch
• Source lists of companies and contacts for upcoming marketing campaigns based on client requirements
• Utilize SQL queries to identify appropriate records for sales reps to target in upcoming campaigns
• Utilize Excel to perform complex data mining activities

I am currently working a full year internship at Subaru of America, Inc. as an IT Intern at their corporate headquarters in Cherry Hill. I have many responsibilities with the IT Intern position. Since the IT department is not as large as some other companies, I will have the chance to work various positions within the department. Some of these responsibilities include supporting the development of IT internal applications, assisting the product manager, database administration (installation, upgrade, and modification of the database), application of administration tasks and providing support with Desktop/PC tasks.
Currently I am using PHP and Oracle to create a web application that will manage their patches and instances. I am also currently testing a business intelligence application before they release it to their regional managers.
I’m working as a business analyst at first quality enterprises. mainly i will be managing an it asset management project; the project is called the it management portal.it is a sharepoint based asset management system and myself and the other it intern are developing it this summer. the portal will consist of application and server inventories, application vendor data, it budgeting and administrative “stuff”, and it policy and procedure.
(i have no idea why all of this is in caps…my caps lock is not on)
I AM working at JP MOrgan Chase as an appication development intern. I will be assisting the corporate technology sector of j.p. morgan services by focusing on data retrieval and system interface implementations and upgrades (via sharepoint, data visualization, etc).
I am working at AmeriHealth Mercy as a Medical Affairs Intern.
I will be assisting various departments throughout the company but I will be primarily involved with the Clinical Services Division. My focus is mostly on data. I will be focusing on data retrieval, data mining, and data compiling. My intern function is split between two areas. The first is to provide support for two projects that AmeriHealth is actively engaged in. The second is to provide comparisons between present day data versus historical data.

I am an desktop engineer intern at icg commerce.
My responsibilities consist of upgrading employees to windows 7, setting up new employees with new machines, assisting with the help desk ticketing system, analyzing the companies mobile phone bills and suggesting alternatives to lower costs. I also help with any other things that pop up such as researching new or alternative technologies that may benefit the company.

I will be working at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as an Information Services Intern.
During my time here, I will be researching different alternatives for a knowledge repository. I will research and test the industry standard of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and the different alternatives. I will also be developing and gathering content to add through research and interviews to this centralized information center that various users can access throughout the department.
I will be working at Merck as a Service Management intern in the information Risk Management Compliance Department; which is in the Global Services Division. I will be using SAP to analyze budgets for projects within Merck, Facilitate meetings to gather information regarding projects various projects. I will also me managing the community website for Merck, answering questions when employees post them on the website. I will also be assisting with a project called “RoadShow” where I will be gathering information from various Departments and compile it into a presentation. As of right now those are all the tasks I am going to be doing.
I am working for the Dow Chemical Company in Center City in the Enterprise Systems Management group. We remotely monitor almost everything related to IS within the company including Windows and UNIX servers, network access, outlook email, internet and intranet connections, specific websites, facility conditions, databases and mainframes, filesize and drive space, and various instances of applications, most notably SAP. We test all of these metrics for availability and performance and set thresholds, SOPs, and alert types to be sent to operators should one of these systems cross a threshold.
