Interning at Flip Media was such an awesome experience for me. My summer completely changed to something unique for many reasons; I lived in Dubai for 3 months (which was already crazy) and I got to work with brilliant people in the biggest digital agency in the Middle East. Everyone was so nice, as well, and I didn’t notice how close I’ve really become with everyone until the last day when I was saying goodbye.
I got to work with big clients and the workload was really challenging and demanding. Most of the days I had to stay at least an hour extra just to get my tasks done. But it all taught me a lot; apart from everything technical that I learned about CMS, design, and etc, I know my professional self better now.
I was told to come back by the CEO, COO, and every Account Director at the agency. However, having 2 courses left, I had to tell them that I will be looking for another internship in the United States.
But I know, if it’s meant for me to come to Dubai again for work, I will undoubtedly come and work for Flip Media.
Work at Lockheed Martin has been challenging and fun. I met a lot of great people and the culture is really positive too- the managers don’t really care when people come in or if they come in at all (telecommuting is huge), as long as everyone gets their work done on time. I’ll be continuing my internship for about 10 hours a week in the Fall, but long term my sights are set on another area of the company or possibly another company entirely.
The one thing my work wasn’t, to me, was meaningful. I felt like I was certainly helping and I even produced a software project that was completely usable and implemented in the company, but it still didn’t give me the sense of accomplishment I’m looking for in a full career. I like solving business strategy and management problems, like all the case competitions I do while at school. I didn’t get to do much of that while at this job, but I did get to try myself out in both the project manager and programmer roles. While I can do both these jobs well, neither of them “get me up in the morning”.
So the search continues for that perfect internship / job. Next summer I’m looking at one of the Big 4 (audit) or one of the Big 3 (consulting), for a strategy/mgmt analyst or consulting role. I’ve been a technical analyst at a bank, a teacher at a university, a programmer and a project manager at an engineering firm, and none of those have fit me perfectly yet. But so far, Lockheed has been the best company to work for and I highly recommend them to anyone looking at a technical field.
My exprience here at Campbell’s has been very educational. I have learned a great deal of how this company operates from inside the retail and sales side. I was on a few projects here using the SharePoint 2010 software. One of the projects that I was part of just went live to the whole US Retail department. I had great feedback from Senior Leadership Teams and built an strong network. I became the goe to person for all SharePont questions abou this site. I knew very little about SharePoint coming into this role but I adapted myself to learn the software.
Since being a large food company, I gained about 5 pounds over the length of this internship. It was great tasting and learning about product development of future items to come. They would make sure people within the company would eat something they created before they would let the public taste. Learning the ideas behind how the kitchens here come up with such great product was a very interesting process. I also learn how Campbell’s places its products in stores to engage shoppers to buy certain products just from the placement of the item. There is a lot of strategy behind this company and its ideas.
My future here is unsure but it is a place I would work for in the future. There are sugguestions going around the office to keep me part-time over the course of the next few months. This would be to make sure the site that went live is not have issues and can be mantained until it is stable enough for someone in company to handle the duties.
Working for Proscape has been an amazing opportunity and I am very grateful to have earned my position here. Since the office is close to Temple (Horsham, PA), I will continue to work for Proscape, three days a week. It is great to work for a small company because the position seems more like a job, rather than an internship. Many large companies have structured “internship programs” where the new interns each summer work through a pre-packaged program. When I was hired at Proscape, I was hired to work for an indefinite amount of time, and bear the responsibilities of a full-time worker. My managers are both very supportive of my education and want to see me succeed. Next summer I was thinking about living in France for a month or two, and my manager suggested that I can continue to work for Proscape remotely from Europe, with the same hourly wage. Whether this happens or not, it is nice to know that my managers are flexible and encourage my personal growth.
Proscape has been a perfect fit for me and I am excited to continue working for them n the fall and beyond!

My experience at Sunoco has been great. It was my first real corporate experience. I can’t even begin to describe all the things I’ve learned while being here. I’ve been busy all summer and was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to stay on in a part-time position in a different role within the department. While at school, I’ll be still coming to the office on MWF in mornings working up to 20 hrs/wk. In my new role, I’ll be managing an customer-based application called SunocoNet Portal. I’m in the process of learning my new role while wrapping up my previous projects.
I was very pleased with how my internship went. I learned a lot of useful skills that I can now use inside and outside of work. I have already begun to utilize my skills in virus protection software and fixing hardware in people’s computers outside of the workplace. What i liked most about the internship is the flexible my bosses and colleagues gave me to work in a variety of different areas within the IT department. This really allowed me to learn and explore for myself. Otherwise I may have been stuck doing one specific project for eight plus weeks. Fortunately, I begin a full-time position as an audit associate at Kelmar Associates LLC in two weeks. I was a dual major in both accounting and management information systems at Temple and I chose the career path of accounting for now in hopes of receiving my CPA and moving up to upper management within a company.
I really enjoyed my internship, both from a personal and professional development perspective. West is an excellent company and its motto, “People are our greatest asset,” can easily be seen in the everyday work environment. Everyone that I interacted with including my manager, mentors, and senior executives all showed a vested interest in my learning and successes.
From a professional development perspective, I was exposed to several facets of its IT and business departments. I spent time with Program managers, Network Administrators, Change Management, and Senior Executives to learn how their business flows, its various service lines, and the essential role that IT plays.
My specific position as a Service Desk Analyst has given me a front row seat into the daily issues facing a global enterprise. Through troubleshooting, I was able to grasp a better understanding of the different functions of various departments, as well as find active solutions to technology issues. From hardware, to software, to mobile communications, I got a real taste of how technology is undoubtedly engrained into today’s enterprise.
I was also fortunate to participate and assist in the roll-out of MS SCSM global service client. This will allow West streamline it’s IT architecture and communications, and facilitate and manage IT services from a global perspective.
I will be staying on for the remainder of the summer, and I will be part-time throughout the fall semester. As for a career with West, there is always the opportunity that I can be a part of a great company. Since they are global, there are opportunities in the EU, Asia/Pacific, or South America as well. From an IT perspective, there is room for growth and opportunity as they are constantly expanding and improving IT Services across its global enterprise. Overall it was an excellent experience that has expanded my knowledge and experience.
Working at JPMC was certainly a great experience. I got to work in a role that I didn’t even know existed a couple months ago and now I am very interested to the point where I want to pursue a career in it. I got to experience how a big organization functions and all the pros and cons of working in the financial sector. I got to network with great people and worked with a manager who was thoroughly invested in making sure this would be a great learning experience for me. I got to work on an integral piece of the project and was treated like every other member of the team which made it a great experience.I have done well in my internal reviews and my manager has expressed interest in bringing me back full time once I graduate this December. If presented the opportunity, JPMC would be a great place to start my career off in.
My summer at Ernst & Young has been exceptional. I learned a great deal about myself and about others. I got a real world experience of what it would be like to work there full time. I absolutely loved my intern class, all my mentors and the great people I met. I have received a full time offer from Ernst & Young and probably will accept it. However, I did just have two job interviews this past weekend with Booz Allen Hamilton and Target Corporation. Consulting is definitely a possibility for me. I see a MBA in the near future for me, so I want to stay in a dynamic industry where I can acquire lots of great skills, constantly be challenged and prepare myself to continue my education.
My experience at Penske far exceeded what I could have ever imagined. Going in, I really had no clue what to expect but everything worked out for the best. I think the most important thing that affected my experience was the current employees that I was lucky to be surrounded with. Just about every single one of them would have stopped to help me at any given moment and never treated me like a subordinate. Secondly, my main supervisor was great! He sat me down the first week of my internship and wanted to hear what I wanted to get out of this internship and then structured the subsequent workload as necessary. The thing that made it truly easy was that he was young and energetic and could relate to everything I was working on. He understood what I was looking for and where I wanted to go because he was in my same situation less than 10 years ago.
Aside from the associates I already had the privilege of working alongside, it was also a pleasure to see the amount of confidence my boss had in me. On multiple occasions he gave me some pretty in depth and influential projects to work on and never hesitated to think I wouldn’t get it done the right way. Although he was wrong and I did make mistakes every now and then, he assured me that everything could be adjusted and didn’t discourage me from continuing to follow my instinct in which I thought was right.
Aside from the experience at Penske, I think the biggest thing I am taking away is the connections. I have met so many great people in upper management that have already inquired about me joining the team again next summer and how much they would love to have me. Currently, my boss is coordinating having me work at a Philadelphia Penske rental center with the manager of HR and the district rental manager in Philadelphia. Hopefully, this all pans out and I am able to continue and work part time in a different area of the business while still at school. Additionally, my supervisor has told me that if I were to keep in contact with him once leaving that he was all but sure he’d have an opening for me post-graduation.
All that said, my experience combined with the potential future opportunities that Penske has presented me with is more than I could have ever imagined before accepting this position and I am blessed that I was able to be a part of such a great company.
My internship at ACE is set to end this Friday and I will definitely miss it. Everybody here was so nice throughout my whole time here and I feel I am really starting to become a much better independent worker. By independent worker, I mean that I have been able to finish projects by myself and correctly the first time and not even need to ask for any help. I have learned alot while I was here and I will keep learning more this semester as I feel this could be my best semester yet. A few of the people I work with asked if I could stay an extra week to help with post-closing reportw only to find out from our manager that we only have the funds set up for my 12 week stay. Last week me and the other interns had a conference call with the head of HR where we all submitted our information if we wanted to stay in the system here at ACE and get first notifications on any internships or positions opening up in the near future.
I am still currently working at Subaru Of America, my internship is for a year and it is not over yet. During the fall and spring semester I will be working part-time while attending classes.
The experience thus far is awesome; the people, environment, culture, and ethics. I always have work to do, they make sure we aren’t bored and are learning. Before my internship started, I had little to no knowledge of how IT functions in a corporate business. Having the ability to experience the real world as an intern opened my eyes to many opportunities to enter the IT field. I have enhanced my programming, database, and SQL skills because of the projects I partake in. I learned so much in one summer, in one year, I’ll have a wide variety of knowledge on IT related technologies and resources.
Subaru of America is a growing company, so I predict that by the end of my internship they will have an open position for me. They implied it a few times throughout my internship, but only time will tell. There is still a few more months to show everyone what I am capable of. By then I hopefully can say I have a full time job at Subaru of America.
My last day of the summer portion of my internship is August 23rd here at NAVSUP-WSS. I will continue in the fall working part time 16 hours a week. The experience I gained this summer was amazing. I learned a lot about the company and how my position can contribute to the organization. I really enjoyed my internship here and I look forward to continuing it this fall. I have three classes left at Temple and after graduation I will hopefully get offered a full time position here at NAVSUP-WSS. I am also looking forward to continuing my education and working at the same time in the near future.
My experience at J&J was great. I learned so much about J&J’s business model and how it operates. Every day, I learned something new about J&J or about the IT industry that I had not previously known. I got to take parts in discussions around re platforming servers and applications with vendors like GHX and SAP. I got to complete some technical work using administrator tools. I took part in strategy discussions and refined my Microsoft Visio skills. My other fellow interns were great and a good support system. A few of them have left already while I finish out my last week. Some of the terminology like CRMs and ERPs have finally begun to hit home in my head. Seeing real world situations of these items have helped me gain a ton of perspective in what I want to do in my life.
As far as staying on, I don’t have the possibility of staying on part-time due to very very very strict budget constraints here at JJHCS. However, I am eligible to apply for the ITLDP (leadership development program) after working an internship. The ITLDP is very highly regarded here at J&J. Most of the employees in leadership positions in the company have gone through this program. Even though I am eligible to apply, it is a prestigious program and very selective, therefore it would be in my best interests to keep my options open at the same time.
My internship experience at New Holland Apparel was remarkable. Unfortunately, it has recently ended. Although this was not my first experience in a corporate environment, it was my first employed in IT. I was a summer help desk intern and it was an enlightening experience because it was my first look into my career. I was able to apply many lessons I had learned at school while here. It was great to finally be on the IT side of things rather then wait for them to arrive or remote into my computer. This class is definitely something I recommend any MIS student to take because real world experience is something that can’t really be taught in the classroom. This was only a summer time internship and I will not be back with New Holland after I graduate this August. However, I have began applying to various companies, while also sending my resume to professional contacts that work within our industry. I hope to be employed by fall and look forward to entering the real work as IT professional for Temple University.
It is my last week at AstraZeneca and my 3-month internship has been the most wonderful experience. I would love to work in the pharmaceutical industry when I graduate. I learned so much at AZ and I was given so many opportunities to contribute, learn, and network. It was my first time being in a corporate office setting and at first I was intimidated; however, I learned the company culture to be very relaxed and welcoming. Unfortunately, the intern program is not a direct route for a full time offer. Interns that would like to come back as a full-time employee would have to apply through a global graduate program. It is a very competitive program and the benefits are amazing, but having interned at AZ already, it would definitely at least get me in the door. If I were to receive an offer from AZ, I would jump on board without any hesitation.
My time spent at ICG was great, all of the employees are great people and I could not have asked for a better place to be at. After my internship is over at the end of the summer, I will be working part-time doing different projects for them during the school year and hopefully a full time job in the future.
My internship this summer at QVC has been awesome. It has truly been a great experience working
for a large multinational company. Before coming to QVC the only experience I had was working for a
much smaller company. I learned how things are done, how everything has a process, and the immense
amount of meetings one has to attend. Everyone I met has been so nice and welcoming and truly
interested in how they can help me grow as a professional. I really enjoyed all the intern events and
becoming friends with many of the other interns has made my summer an enjoyable one to say the
least. I was asked to extend my internship a week later but unfortunately because of the long commute and my Fox Peer Teacher job I will not be staying on part-time during fall semester. I have definitely gained a lot of real world experience and made a few great connections within QVC. Even though my experience was a great one, I would not accept an offer on my current team. Because of QVC’s culture and the people that work there, I will definitely be applying for other positions within the company.
Working at Lockheed has been a great experience. Over the past 8 months they have given me the opportunity to explore the company and learn about different opportunities available to me, which was my initial goal. My first 4 months I worked a more technical role that was clearly MIS based. It was not for me, so I moved into the operations side of the tech part of the company; where I worked for the past 4 months. I again decided that this was not for me and will be moving into advanced development and ventures, to work on the strategy behind new ventures. I am very excited about this new role. As of now, I have decided to work at Lockheed for the next 2 semesters, but have not committed to the summer yet. I would rather wait until I have a clearer picture of my options.
My experience at Campbell Soup Company was very valuable and gave me a lot of insight into working for a large corporation. This was the first internship I did with such a large corporation and I learned a lot about the company culture. My internship ended the beginning of June at which point I started another internship with a smaller company in my area. I will be looking for a full-time position in the fall as it is my last semester and Campbell’s is definitely one of the places I will be applying.
I have learned so much about the corporate world. The hard part about getting in with a company is getting your foot in the door. Once you are in, if you are personable and get along well with others, and have a desire to learn, you will succeed.
I was offerend to continue part-time, however I am studying abroad in China this fall semester, so they told me that I have a part-time job waiting for me when I return from China. My manager has expressed strongly that he wants me to return full time to his team. I am just waiting to hear back as to whether I will officially receive a full-time offer.
At the Fed I have had the opportunity to work on various projects throughout the summer and gain significant exposure to different business areas. High proficiency in not only technology but also communication skills became essential. My internship taught me that learning is invaluable. The ability and willingness to learn is a skill highly prized at the Fed. Knowledge sharing and relationship building are core competencies. Another important thing I learned is that taking lead and believing in your skill set regardless of rank and title will help propel you forward in any business world. Going into this internship I had business knowledge but now I have business experience. I have grown not only as a professional but also as a student, person, and leader. I will be staying at the Fed part-time throughout the school year & will hopefully be able to secure a permanaent position.
My internship at Aetna was an amazing experience. I got some great hands-on experience working in project management while applying some concepts I’ve learned in class. My coworkers, both the internal team and the contractors, I worked with were very helpful and friendly. Although the internship did not lead to a full time position, I feel that the skills I learned at Aetna has helped me increase my knowledge of a corporations IT department.
Interning at PwC was an incredible experience. I had the opportunity to work with friendly and talented people who were not that much older than me. Hearing about PwC’s culture caught my interest, and I can say after interning there they truly devote themselves to not only working for the client, but also taking care of their employees. I learned so much and was given real work, through which I got an accurate depiction of what working full time is like. I am happy to say that I have received a full time offer and will probably be accepting it.
Overall, the internship at SAP was a great experience in the IT field. Although there was a lot of downtime in the operations department, I was exposed to state of the art technology. Another advantage of the SAP Newtown Square location was that there were many opportunities to network with other interns and employees. At the end of my internship, I requested an exit interview to discuss possible job opportunities for after my graduation. Unfortunately, because my graduation is so far away (May 2013), my manager could not promise me a job. SAP bases all new hires on their quarterly results so there is no way to predict a hiring freeze or spree. In all honesty, I did not expect to get a job offer one year before graduation though. What they did offer me was another internship next summer or the opportunity to complete begin a co-op in the fall. These are definitely good opportunities that I will keep in mind. The summer internship might be particularly advantageous because I could apply for any position that opens up.
Interning at Lockheed Martin has been exciting and rewarding. From the first day of the internship until the very end they didn’t treat me like an intern, but rather part of the team. The work culture was very casual and all the managers were very outgoing. I got a chance to use my skills from the classroom to run projects, analyze testing, and develop new approaches to older methods.
The freedom they gave me to think of newer and innovative ideas helped me grow professionally. Having an internship provided me with the opportunity of working in a professional environment. You hear about professionalism throughout your years in school, but never get to see it in action. I think professionalism is something that is gained through internships that put you in the front seat of a project and let you learn from yourself and others.
We currently have evaluations going on and will let us know if they have decided to bring me on board for full time or not towards the end of my graduation from Temple. The workload and projects I have worked on require full-time commitment and part-time work would not help meet the project manager’s need. Thus, I will not be staying on part-time during the fall semester, but have been hinted in coming back after graduation. But overall, the experience was very rewarding.
