Answer one of the following:

This issue was brought up in class, and we really didn’t have time to do it justice: Apple’s model is to tie digital goods distribution tightly to a single platform (the iPad/Pod/Phone and iTunes). Amazon is more flexible, allowing you to buy and view books and music on many different devices (not just the Kindle). From a digital content perspective, which model do you think will ultimately succeed?
Assess the future of the subscription model for digital information goods. In other words, will companies that sell digital content (whether it is music or medical information) be able to collect an ongoing revenue stream? Defend your answer.

Final Exam Study Guide

The study guide for the final exam is here.

As we discussed in class, the final exam will be a “take home” exam. I will distribute the exam via email around 2:00 PM the day of the exam. You will have until midnight to return it, via email, to me. No late exams will be accepted.

The exam is “open book,” but you may only use the assigned course materials during the exam. In other words, you may not get help from the Internet, the library, or any other person.

Answer one of the following, based on the video we watched in class where Andres Weigend talked about the proliferation of new forms of social and personal data:

Which of these issues from earlier in the course is most important when considering use of this data: (1) Access versus Accuracy, (2) Information versus Knowledge, (3) Choosing KPIs? Defend your answer.
What are the challenges in integrating this “external” social data with existing data from a company’s internal systems?
