Digital Marketing/IT Internship –Cadcom
Beginning June 2016, I began interning as a Digital Marketing intern for a start-up print store, Universal Copy and Print and community development commission called CADCOM.
What is Cadcom?
CADCOM exists for one purpose: to serve the community.
Established in 1966 and based in Norristown, PA the Community Action & Development Commission of Montgomery County (CADCOM) are the lead Anti-Poverty Agency in Montgomery County working to coordinate strategic planning, economic development, community development, and to create a partnership between public and private entities to serve the needs of county residents. As a non-profit our goal is to enrich the community, by providing services such as free certification programs, meal plans, and housing programs to residents.
With over 50 years of helping the community, CADCOM continues to fulfill this mission statement by listening to those in need, utilizing the exceptional skills of our staff and working hand in hand with other community service groups.
Universal Copy and Print
As the newest addition to the Norristown business community, powered by Cadcom, Universal Copy and Print (UCP) is part of a national initiative that provides funding for start-up businesses. Within a diminishing print industry, UCP has proved to be a valuable asset to the community. Already recognized for excellent customer service, UCP looks forward to further notoriety and growth.
Social Media/Web Content Manager
Over the course of the summer I took on the role of Social Media Manager where I was responsible for coming up with a Social/Media Marketing Strategy for Universal Copy and Print’s Facebook, and design of their website. I posted the content at least twice a week directly to Facebook. I was also responsible for designing the website hosted on Wix. The aspect I am most proud of was suggesting a series of online tools to better initiate the marketing strategy. Using my experience writing flash research papers, I was able to discuss and persuade CADCOM to invest in tools such as Mailchimp and Hootsuite.
IT Support
Some of my duties included general machine maintenance for both CADCOM as well as UCP, cleaning, rebooting, and general trouble shooting. I was able to get hands-on training in various print technologies, and Adobe suite. The IT work included tasks like attaching emails to reconnecting machines to the server. Using my own trouble shooting and research, I was able to extend my technical skills.
