- Information about the organization (e.g., type, size, location, specific division/department in which you are employed) The Philadelphia Housing Authority, or PHA, is a municipal authority that give public housing services to those all around Philadelphia. The company comprises of just over 1000 employees and the main building is located in the Greys Ferry area of Philadelphia. I was stationed in its Wilson Park building. I was part of its IT Department.
- I worked at the help desk for the company. I took calls from employees and tried to resolve their issues regarding their computers by making tickets or trying to remote in to do it myself. Other than that, I captured and imaged computers and sometimes went out to other sites to fix computers for those associated with PHA.
- One project I was given was to list all the police officers who work with PHA and give information on those who have access to certain sites in the company. If the officer does not have access to a site, I would put it on the spreadsheet and make access cards to give the officer access. Another project I was given was to make a display based on all the ticketed cases made by the IT department in order to show any trends between the sites from this summer.
- I learned that capturing and imaging computers is an important task that is required by many companies in the industry. I also learned that the IT department has to deal with issues from all departments in the company. The department is the glue to the company, and has to fix technical issues all the time. If there was no IT department, the company would be in shambles.
