Volunteerism
Through my role as Director of Events for my student professional organization, I’ve had the opportunity to create different community service opportunities for my members, many of which I’ve taken part of. Through this opportunity, we’ve had several community service events geared towards combining creativity with appreciation. Two examples would be our Valentine’s for Vets and Patient Playbooks event. For Valentine’s, our mentorship program created over 70 valentine’s day cards, thanking Veterans for their hard work. These cards were then donated to Philadelphia’s Veterans Hospital. For Patient Playbooks, our members created different pages of activity books varying from crossword puzzles, word searches, fill in the blank, puzzles, and more! I then arranged over 40 booklets that were then donated to the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg.
Education
From a young age, I’ve always found myself in opportunities where I am able to help people through education, whether that be through tutoring in high school or becoming an Information Technology Assistant for Data Analytics in college. Through these different opportunities, I’ve discovered a love for teaching and instructing students. Through TechGirlz, an organization geared towards providing middle school girls with technology-enriched experiences, I led a workshop focused on teaching a group of girls the importance and usage of SQL and Databases. The girls were taught how to Create Tables and Insert Data into databases. They also learned how to SELECT, UPDATE, and DELETE rows of data within a database through the use of different queries.
