Notable Courses

There are a few classes that really stand out to each individual, these three following classes have inspired me to go beyond the classroom and learn as much as I possibly could on the subject. I believe the knowledge and skills taken away from these classes will help me to excel in my future career.

Enterprise IT Architecture (MIS 2501) – Hands on experience building hardware (a physical computer) and software (cloud computing) allowed me to better understand how each form of technology operates. After post-construction of my cloud computing machine, I began to understand how these forms of technology are of importance and create business value. Cloud computing allows businesses to operate more efficiently and safely, running machines from and storing information via the cloud. Businesses rely on cloud services to proficiently back-up crucial data and provide high levels security to the information.

Data-Centric Application Development (MIS 3501) – Develop web-based data-centric applications using programming languages such as HTML, PHP, CSS, MySQL, and PDO in an Integrated Developer Environment (IDE). Through the classes weekly exercises and challenges, I was able to develop functioning data driven, web-based applications. Understanding how to read the languages and how both the front-end and back-end of a website/application operates is necessary in any business setting that utilizes IT daily. Without these skills on-site, a business could potentially encounter long periods of downtime to their applications and websites.

Information Systems Integration (MIS 4596) – Apply all previous course materials, to leverage enterprise information technology assets and capabilities. Using the supporting lectures, my project team and I were tasked to develop a prototype that solves an everyday problem. We have chosen to create an interactive map of the Temple University’s main campus for better navigation, especially to new/international students. Like any project in a real-life scenario, our team must have established roles, set dates and goals, a project manager, and a final deliverable presentation with high expectations of the prototype. Learning how to contribute to the project, while efficiently operating in a specific roe is important to any business which conducts large-scale projects. In addition to our semester long group project, each individual student is tasked with analyzing and creating informative presentations on case studies that each focus on a different aspect of IT and how it relates to the business world. These presentations must be able to convey a clear message using visual and written forms of communication alone.

Below are three case studies I have prepared for MIS 4596:

Cirque Du Soleil

Wyeth

Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
