MIS Capstone Competition
Information Systems Integration (MIS 4596) focuses on identifying a real world problem, creating a solution, and developing a prototype that solves the proposed problem. My team and I identified the need for an interactive, easy to use map application for Temple University’s Campus and surrounding area. Many new students, transfer students, international students, and visitors have a tough time navigating Temple’s large campus and surrounding areas. This Capstone project was treated a real life business scenario, including deadlines, budgets, project status updates, etc. The final product was presented to a board room of professors, mentors, and peers, who judged the quality and value of each project. This Capstone course and project have fully prepared me to work on a project team upon graduation and excel at my designated role.

Temple Spring Connection
Temple’s Spring Connection creates an opportunity for students and business professionals to create connections, which will hopefully lead to career opportunities. Spring Connection allowed me to meet face-to-face with many employers, socialize, and understand the various qualities and skills each employer is looking for in potential candidates. While talking to employers and distributing my resume to companies of interest, I learned how to present myself as a more attractive job candidate and gain a competitive edge in job searching. Prior to attending the Spring Connection, I have become much more comfortable and have attended various other career fairs. The knowledge and skill sets acquired from attending these career fairs has allowed me to tailor my coursework, skills, and resume to become the perfect candidate for many positions.
Temple University Fox IT Awards
Temple’s Annual Fox IT Awards recognizes the academic performance and leadership of Fox MIS students, faculty, and industry professionals. The awards ceremony attracts Temple students, alumni, industry professionals, IBIT member firms, Fox IT advisory board members, faculty, and staff. Attending the awards ceremony has allowed me to communicate with businesses professionals and potential employers in a more relaxed environment, making it easier for both parties. Through conversing with extremely successful business professionals, I was able learn the skills and dedication required to reach their level of achievement. Hopefully I will be able to return to the IT Awards in the future as an Alumni and receive an award myself!
