In adding to the Apple, Amazon and Google discussion, the success of Apple and their innovation cannot be argued but I think a great deal of uncertainty remains in their future. Apple must stay ahead of the field in their innovation and with the reported secrecy within the organization, endorsed by Steve Jobs, it remains to be seen whether that innovation can be sustained with the loss of Jobs and his leadership. To add to this uncertainty, Apple has now been named in an anti-trust lawsuit by the attorney general accusing Apple of conspiring with the top publishers to limit competition on e-books. It alleges that agreements were made to limit price competition and ensure Apple large commissions. The conspiracy directly impacted Amazon’s ability to discount e-books and drive their sales.
