This past spring, I completed my Data Analytics class. At the end of the class, I had to write an essay about my relevant topic of choice. I decided to write about the evolution of Artificial Intelligence and what that could mean to us. Although I think humans as a whole should move forward with AI, I think there needs to be a healthy level of skepticism. It helped me understand how automation and computers are taking jobs from low-skilled workers. I state my beliefs and views on the matter, but the topic is relevant to MIS majors, because it isn’t.

This research taught me that a career as an MIS major would be safe from Artificial Intelligence for the foreseeable future. I am the one to never say never, but for now, this assignment showed me that my career path is safe. Although simple, I think this is the most important aspect to think about when choosing a career path. Just as importantly, it taught me to always remain a student of the field and to continue looking forward. Not everything will be taught in school, so it is important to stay informed outside of school and educate yourself on the topics that pertain to your career.
