Data Analyst
My overall role was to analyse data and then interpret it to provide conclusions concerning what His Kids needs to do next. I analysed data concerning students and families of students who attend the school. I created info graphics containing all the data I collected which I would present to the director and staff. I was usually assigned a different project around every two weeks. Some projects took longer than others. My first project involved collecting data about what school district all the students attending the preschool were from compared to the total number of students in each district enrolled in other preschools. This information helped His Kids figure out where they are most likely to gain students from and the areas in which they are failing too compared to other competing schools. In this project I mostly used excel and Tableau. The second major project was a project in which I had to find the likelihood of households having potential students to attend the school. This information was gathered from the current students at His Kids compared to a random sample of households in the area. In this project I used SQL, excel, R studio, and Tableau. I created a tree diagram to display percentages, along with creating info graphics containing different categories that where analysed. I learned a lot about how different programs and tools I have used at Temple are implemented into an everyday work setting. I have used platforms like Excel, R Studio, Tableau, and SQL at Temple but now I got to see how they would be used in a real world setting. I also learned how all of these programs used to analyse data lead to the next step which is decision making. My major in MIS is the reason I was able to excel during my time with His Kids Christian Preschool.
