System Engineer Intern

My role was a system engineer intern. My daily tasks included providing support for users through out different facilities the company owned. An example of a common ticket was a user wanted permission to a certain application so I would add them into a security group to grant them access. Throughout the summer I worked on a lot of different projects. Some of them had to deal with server upgrades, group policies, DHCP servers, etc. For server upgrades I had to coordinate with application owners and tech owners to develop a plan on how the servers will be upgrades and what platform they will be running on. Another project was the DHCP server cleanup. In this project we focused on removing old DHCP servers that were no longer in use or authorized to have DHCP. Once we discovered the DHCP servers that were still authorized we changed some of their settings. For example name protection.  I also got a chance to help manage our privileged accounts using Beyond Trust Privileged Account Manager. I also got a chance to sit down with the VM team and got to see their process for spinning up virtual machines. This related directly to some classes I have taken here at Temple because they utilized VMWare, just as I had used in a past project. I learned a lot about have the practices I have been taught here at Temple apply to a real world setting.
