Launch Intern

This summer I interned at Ernst and Young, a professional services firm, in their Philadelphia office from the 12th of June to August 10th. The Launch Internship is an opportunity for students from minority backgrounds to rotate among their service lines (Advisory, Assurance, and Tax) and get a better understanding of their business processes. During my time in Advisory I worked on SOX compliance and did testing for system processes. For testing I would create proper documentation to ensure that each control to mitigate the specific risk associated with it, some of which had statements similar to SQL which I was able to understand thanks to my experience in Data Analytics. Something that I worked on over the course of my internship was GDPR research and working with select companies to ensure that they are remaining compliant. My research was mainly revolving around how to remain compliant when dealing with technologies such as artificial intelligence, cookies, and automation. During my Tax rotation I worked on Federal and State tax returns on OneSource and gained a lot of experience in that platform. While 2 of the 3 of my rotations were dealing with accounting, I still managed to find connections to the MIS world throughout. There were aspects of data analytics in each service line and I suggested solutions for tax balance sheet coding that would increase efficiency and are in the stages of being created now.
