C2C Internship at Vanguard

During the summer of 2016 I will be interning for Vanguard in their College to Corporate Internship. Vanguard is in the financial services industry and reaches globally to manage more than 3.7 trillion dollars. They are a client-centric company which means everything they do is in the best interest of their clients, always. To be able to do this Vanguard has a very special design, their clients own them. Unlike other financial firms who need to perform in order to pay their owners, Vanguard performs in order to pay their investors. I will be interning in the Institutional Investment Group in the Plan Sponsor Technology department as a Project Administrator. Projects that I will be working on include:

  • Lost Earning calculation
  • Record Keeping Services Technology Prioritization update
  • Complexity Model Update
  • Implementing RKS Expo
  • Deloitte Consulting team business case for adjustments and deferrals
  • Print Mail Modernization

As well as all the projects that I will be fortunate enough to have a chance to work on or observe I will be participating in a lot of pre-planned event specialized for the intern class. Some of the activities that I will participate in will be:

  • Corporate Challenge Day
  • StrenghtsFinder 2.0
  • Partnership
  • VTO Day (Volunteering day)
  • Mentorship program

This internship is full time (40 hours a week) and it is a paid position. The program will last for 10 weeks beginning on June 1st 2016 and ending August 5th 2016.

As a raising senior in the MIS field I could not be more excited to start my internship in a department where my skills and talents will be utilized to their fullest. Vanguard is a very established firm that has more opportunities within its walls than many other firms do entirely. The work I will be doing over the summer will have a lasting impact on the business and people. My passions for business and technology are emerging perfectly in my position and I cannot wait to see where the summer takes me.
